I'm Darren (Daz) Martin and I've been a keen photographer for almost
My passion for photography started just using an iPhone and uploading my photos to Instagram.
Then I became hooked (and developed an eye for a good image)
I swapped my Iphone for a Fujifilm X10 and there was no going back.
I practiced daily, trying new techniques all the time, learning from books, magazines, YouTube videos and eventually did a 10 week course at Ffotogallery, Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff.
Just before the course at Ffotogallery, I bought my first full frame DSLR, a Canon 5D mk i.
I attended various photography workshops - including a street photography workshop in London, sponsored by Panasonic and hosted by Damien Demoulder, author of Amateur Photographer magazine. Plus an Astrophotography course in the Brecon Beacons with Alyn Wallace.
I upgraded my camera to the 5D mk iii and then spent an absolute fortune on the best lenses and equipment that I could afford.
Over the last couple of years, I have attended sporting events. These include biathlons, triathlons, cycling, golf, boxing and running, covering events such as the London Marathon, Cardiff Half Marathon and doing shoots for my local running club.
I've photographed weddings, family portraits, pets, landscape and Astrophotography (hunted for the Northern Lights in Iceland and The Milky Way in the deepest darkest parts of Wales).
But, a real passion of mine is street photography.
A link to my streetphotography is available at the bottom of this page (just click on the Instagram icons)
I'm currently the photographer for the Velindre Cancer Charity based in Cardiff, covering events for them in my spare time.
I am now based in the
North East of England
but willing to travel.
